In the picturesque valley between the two hills stretched the famous Cypriot village of Lefkara. Here you can wander for hours on winding narrow streets and admire the original architectural style that many centuries ago used by local residents in the construction of houses. Still these streets are amazed by a multitude of tablecloths, shawls, napkins decorated with lace fluttering in the wind. Several centuries ago, women from Lefkara mastered the basics of lacework, taking art from the wives of the noble Venetians who lived on the island in the XV century and engaged in needlework. Over time, all the lace made on the island, began to call lefkaritika. Classical lefkaritika-geometrically correct pattern, in which there are almost no smooth lines, usually comes in two colors: beige and white. Today in the streets of Lefkara you can see how the craftsmen weave the most complicated ornaments. To surprise them with a rather high price is not worth it: for the manufacture of just one lacy product, it takes several weeks of painstaking work.
